Garden City School

  Description
Christchurch, also known as “New Zealand’s Garden City”, is a very lush, green city with parks, gardens, stores, restaurants and a lot of culture. The school was founded in 1992 and is situated in the heart of the city, close to the Information Center, with a view of the Avon River and only 2 minutes away from the Cathedral Square.
The school offers a spacious student’s hall, individual study rooms, free Internet and e-mail access and free coffee and tea.

Accommodation
The School recommends that its students stay with host families, as it is a much more enriching experience and helps students adapt to speaking English by sharing the dinner table with New Zealanders. Rooms can be single or double, and include half board on weekdays (breakfast and dinner) with lunch added on weekends.

Academics
Besides the General English Course, a full time course (between 5 and 9 daily lessons) the School specializes in preparing students for Cambridge exams. These exam courses are made up of 4 daily lessons and with only 10 students per class. In order to sit for the TOEIC exam, students are prepared with 2 daily lessons and also a maximum of 10 students per class.

Activities
Outdoor activities are very popular given the school’s location. Weekend excursions, rollerblading, numerous sports, wining and dining and pub nights are some of the activities the city offers.
