Description
Situated in the north of New Zealand’s South Island,
Nelson is a city surrounded by mountains, beautiful beaches
with clear, sunny weather. An hour’s drive away
from the city center you can find Golden Bay and the famous
Abel Tasman National Park, two very popular tourist destinations.
Nelson English Center teaches English using up-to-date
academic teaching methods and guaranteeing a maximum of
12 students per class.
Accommodation
Homestay is the most recommended form of accommodation.
A school representative picks students up at the airport
or bus station and takes them to the designated homestay
family. All families live close to the school and enjoy
hosting international students and introducing them to
New Zealand way of life.
Another possible alternative is renting an apartment in
the area and sharing expenses with other students.
Academics
The English courses offered at the School involve different
levels. All courses are based on leveling tests students
take before classes begin. Each course has various tutors
that help students with difficulties as well as answer
questions that come up in class. Besides the General English
courses, the School offers exam courses and Business English
courses. The course duration depends on the various groups
formed, but courses generally involve 3 lessons per day.
Activities
After lessons the School organizes a range of different
activities, from beach sports, hikes, or visits to parks
and gardens to traditional BBQ’s. Monthly excursions
are organized in mini-bus to the north of the island visiting
places that are usually not part of the typical tourist
rounds. On Tuesdays students usually go out to the city’s
pubs. One of the most popular is the "Victorian Rose
English Pub".
