Description
The School is only a 5-minute walk away from Nelson’s
city centre, close to the post office, shops and cafes.
Trafalgar is a small school by choice. It offers students
a system of specialized individual tutoring that allows
them to learn English faster and in a more effective way,
with classes of only 6 students.
Accommodation
Accommodation is organized in the homes of New Zealand
families that participate in the student homestay program,
or students are given assistance in finding and apartment
to rent or a hotel room. Options are varied and all are
situated close to the School.
Academics
The teaching program relies on a variety of resources
ranging from tapes and videos to literature books and
movie films. The School is flexible and adapts to students’
individual needs, which is why course duration is not
established beforehand, but rather set according to the
needs and wishes of each student. English courses with
additional activities are also organized, according to
student interests. These activities include golfing, fishing
or art, among others. The minimum number of students needed
for these courses to run is 4.
Activities
Class always finishes at lunchtime on a Friday so that
the afternoons can be used for enjoying the many activities
available around the school. Weekend outings are organized
for visiting places that are further away or simply, for
sporting activities such as kayaking in the Tasman Bay,
golfing or taking part in cultural activates such as visiting
galleries and museums.
